Winter

Had to check I’d got the numbers right when I counted four years back
Every night we’d be in some old pub, wherever the band were playing at

They got me up on stage once or twice, I never played that great,
But the crowd didn’t notice and the band, well they were too nice to say

Those days I thought about the future
But now I think about those days
It’s hard to imagine things will be that good again
Now that winter’s on its way

The kind of days you would find yourself in some stranger’s flat
Drinking their booze and playing their guitar, hoping they were cool with that

I can’t forget stealing the citrus fruits from that old converted church
Threw them at the windows of our old flat and laughed until it hurt.

Those days I thought about the future
But now I think about those days
It’s hard to imagine things will be that good again
Looks like winter’s here to stay.
